Howl’o’ween 2016

Elsa has been enjoying all the Halloween festivities including pumpkin carving, baking pumpkin spice treats and two parties where she got to show off her spooktacular costume – a very scary tarantu-lhasa!

Tricks for Treats – Pumpkin Spice Cookie Recipe

We started by baking some pumpkin spice treats for Elsa and her four-legged friends… if you want to try making some at home you can find the recipe below.

Ingredients:

  • Buckwheat flour – approx 3 cups
  • One can of pumpkin
  • A teaspoon of cinnamon
  • One egg

After combining all the ingredients in a bowl and mixing them together the dough eventually became workable, it is quite sticky at first until all the flour is properly mixed in! Add a little extra flour if needed.

One you get the right consistency, roll the dough out onto a surface that you have sprinkled with flour. It only needs to be approximately half a centimeter thick.

We used these cutters which are actually ‘fondant plungers’ but they are very good and the dough held the shape well too. Tip: make sure to sprinkle flour inside the cutters to ensure the dough does not stick to the inside.

We also used a bigger cookie cutter to make these Pumpkin shapes, and some carob drops to create cute little paw prints.

Paws & Co Staffordshire Ltd – Halloween Party!

The lovely ladies at Paws & Co had a Halloween open day where Elsa had great fun playing with Lottie and Piglet the frenchies!

Elsa was lucky enough to win 1st place in the costume competition as the terrifying tarantu-lhasa!

Carving the pumpkin

Elsa loved helping with the pumpkin, it’s safe for dogs to eat and she couldn’t wait to try it!

We went for a classic scary face for our pumpkin this year!

Hounds Spooky Halloween Party!

We headed down to Hounds in Newcastle-under-Lyme at dusk for their Halloween party.

With bats hanging in the window, cobwebs on the shelves and treats laid out for both humans and dogs, it was the perfect setting for a spooktacular Halloween party!

All the dogs looked fantastic in their costumes! There were pumpkins, witches, bats and even Count Dracula!

After bobbing for apples, Elsa decided to help herself to some treats…

The treat table was very popular with all the dogs!

Elsa enjoyed spending more time with handsome frenchie Piglet and Woody from Hounds.

Unfortunately, Elsa decided to be a bit of a party-pooper when she decided that all the treats were for her…

Soon it was time for some fresh-air and we enjoyed a spooky lantern walk around town before heading home for the evening.

Thank you so much to both Paws & Co and Hounds for arranging these Halloween events!

They are a great opportunity to let the dogs (and owners) have fun socialising… although we need to work on Elsa’s manners a little when it comes to sharing treats!

Happy Howl’o’ween from Paws across Britain and Elsa the Tarantu-Lhasa!
