Updated Post | March 2018 – Sadly Barkers have now closed up shop and removed all their social media feeds… We are so sad to see them go, this store was one of our favourites!
Barkers of Wilmslow is one of the first dog shops we ever took Elsa to and it’s also where she had her first puppy groom!
There are a number of establishments across Wilmslow that welcome dogs including high street shops and restaurants, so it’s only fair that the dogs themselves have a special place to explore, pick up some new toys, try out some new food and be pampered in a luxurious dog spa!
Everything about the store has been designed with dogs in mind, from the sign outside that looks like a giant dog tag to the towels inside the doorway that you can use to dry off wet paws.
The grooming spa is at the back of the shop. They offer a full range of services from a simple bath and brush to more luxurious treatments like mud baths. We brought Elsa here for her first puppy groom and she came out looking fluffier than ever! Sadly it’s a little far for us to travel for regular grooming now but we’d definitely bring Elsa here for a spa treatment on special occasions.

They have a fantastic selection of things to buy including toys, coats, beds, treats, food, novelty items and lots more! We always find something new when we visit and particularly like their selection of seasonal products at Halloween and Christmas.
Elsa loves visiting Barkers because she gets to try out new toys…
…she also enjoys exploring the treat section!
We love the gift boxes for ‘Baby Barkers’ – such a lovely idea!
Barkers also host a range of social activities for dogs including parties and they have their own wall of fame featuring all their four-legged customers!
Elsa definitely loves visiting this store!
We stocked up on some fishy treats as well as a Halloween accessory and a cute little Christmas gift sack which we have hidden away for now…
Barkers around town
Wilmslow is a great place to explore with your dog; Barkers also provide dog friendly shops and restaurants around town with stickers, like the one pictured below at Unico Lounge, which help you to see where dogs are welcome.
- There is a car park behind Barkers although it can get busy on weekends.
- Adjacent to the car park there is a small park which is a great place for ‘toilet breaks’.
- Wilmslow Artisan Market takes place on the third Saturday of each month on the street in front of Barkers and there are normally stalls selling dog treats and other doggie related items as well as lots of human treats too – we love this market!
