Paws and Rewind – February 2017

Paws and Rewind – February 2017

Paws and Rewind is a look back at the places, products, activities and events that we have been enjoying with Elsa over the past month.

February 2017 has been a real treat… We visited a lovely dog friendly coffee shop called tsp in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent to sample their new afternoon tea. It was amazing! Read the full blog post here.

Elsa sniffed out the new Bic and Mix stand in Pets Corner at Bridgemere Garden Centre – she was very impressed with these new, grain free biscuits. They come in a range of shapes and flavours including chicken bones, minty mix and cheddar triangles and are quite a bargain at £3.99 per box.

We decided to treat Elsa to a new collar and lead for Valentine’s Day and found this gorgeous set called Amour by a popular British brand called Ditsy Pet. Elsa’s friend Piglet is also a fan and he was wearing the Love Dickie Bow when they met in town.

Love was in the air at our favourite dog shop Hounds. They hosted a Valentine’s doggy photo shoot, so we took Elsa along and managed to get a lovely picture of her and Piglet together. We did try and get a group picture with Harry the Chug too, but unfortunately it was all too exciting for the dogs and we just ended up with a blur of fur!

Elsa also got her first official Valentine from… Piglet! This handsome chap certainly knows that the way to a girl’s heart is with food! She loved her treats, thanks again!

Hounds had lots of new products in store including:

  • Beautiful Joe’s Ethical Dog Treats. We’ve seen this brand gaining a lot of publicity recently and were very keen to see what all the fuss was about… Their promise is simple: for every packet of ‘Perfectly Behaved’ Liver Treats that they sell, the same quantity of treats is given away to canine rescue homes. We can’t think of a better reason to keep buying these treats! Elsa really seems to enjoy them, and they also have handy tins available which are perfect for carrying them around in your pocket.
  • Huxley Hound Better Than Raw Organic Treats. Flavours include: beetroot, carrot, parsnip and sweet potato. Elsa loves carrot so we got a bag of these for her to try. They are best consumed fresh (within one week) and seem to be good way to add variety (and colour) to her regular diet. She definitely enjoyed eating the carrot ones so we’ll have to let her try the other flavours… It’s great to see such diversity in the range of treats available for dogs nowadays!
  • Pupcakes Jammy Doggie Biscuit. A little Valentine’s treat for Elsa… Pupcakes make a huge range of biscuits including PupTarts, BourBones, Custard Creams, Pawty Rings, Cheese Sticks and even birthday cakes for dogs! This one actually smelled so good we were almost tempted to try it ourselves!

Fun with friends at the dog friendly Cappello Lounge…  We have recently made some lovely new friends through our mutual love of dogs! It’s great to spend time with like-minded people and Elsa had great fun with Harry, Piglet and Cinnamon. We can’t wait for our next meet up with this muttley crew!

Despite the stormy weather that we have had this month, signs of Spring have started to appear across Britain. Snowdrops and crocuses are in full bloom at Trentham Gardens. Since this is our favourite place to take Elsa for a walk, we were delighted when she got her very own VIP (Very Important Pup) Pass! We love watching the seasons change and the flowers bloom at Trentham and are looking forward to another year of visits to this fantastic dog friendly location!

Next month – Paws across Crufts! Yes, we will be at The World’s Largest Dog Show to meet lots of dogs and indulge in a bit of shopping… Middleport Pottery are also hosting another Middleport Mutts day with lots of activities including a fun dog show!
