The Corran Resort & Spa | Carmarthenshire | South Wales

We booked our stay at The Corran Resort & Spa via Pets Pyjamas, taking advantage of an amazing special offer that included an overnight stay in a dog friendly room, dinner and breakfast for two, a 25 minute spa treatment per person, a bottle of Prosecco, dog treats and a luxury dog bed in the room. [This exclusive offer is available until December 2017 - click here for more information.

Booking via Pets Pyjamas was very straightforward, their Pet Concierge team ensured that the process was as stress-free as possible.

Elsa also received a box of goodies containing useful essentials like poo bags, dog treats, some food, a bowl, a toy and travel shampoo!

On arrival we were given a warm welcome by the staff who checked us in very quickly. Before we knew it we were sipping a glass of fizz and sampling handmade chocolates; definitely the sort of reception we needed after a very long drive!

Elsa wasn't left out as she had her own bottle of water and bowl waiting for her in the room!

The dog friendly rooms at The Corran are set in 'The Orchard' - a lovely area of the grounds where there is easy access to a beautiful, enclosed outdoor space. The room itself was HUGE! This would be an ideal place to stay if you have large breed dogs. The floors are tiled but there is under-floor heating. Elsa absolutely loved the room, and the dog bed!

The rest of the grounds are equally as beautiful and there is a very peaceful, relaxed atmosphere at The Corran. There were a number of other guests staying at the hotel, at least half of whom had a dog with them! We had the pleasure of spending some time talking to a lovely couple with a beautiful Corgi called Bonnie... Elsa grew quite fond of her too!

All the staff were very friendly towards their four-legged guests. Although dogs are not allowed in the main restaurant, the bar area is quite spacious and there were several tables set up in this area for anyone who wanted to dine with their dog. There are water bowls dotted around everywhere so we didn't have to worry about carrying a bottle around with us.

Dinner at The Corran was an experience in itself! The food was amazing and the staff that served us were attentive, witty and absolutely delightful. They really understand how to deliver good 'service'. Breakfast was equally as delicious. We had the choice of a full 'Welsh' breakfast along with a continental selection of fruit and pastries and there was even complimentary bucks fizz!

Our package included spa treatments which we booked directly with the hotel. They allowed us to combine these into one session instead of two individual treatments but  unfortunately there was a little mix up with the timings and I arrived an hour late! (I blame it on the complimentary bucks fizz at breakfast time!) Luckily there was still enough time to fit in a facial, which I enjoyed very much!

Our honest thoughts...

There were only a couple of minor details that stopped us giving this hotel a perfect 10/10: we felt that the room could have done with a little TLC (maybe some new pillows and a few new fixtures and fittings, as well as a quick duster once a day to keep on top of the spider webs!)

Overall, we had a lovely stay at The Corran Resort & Spa and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for somewhere that is very dog friendly, peaceful and secluded where you can relax and enjoy some delicious food and first class service.
