We were staying at Darwin's Townhouse, a five minute walk away, so Porterhouse was an ideal place for us to go for dinner with Elsa. It was a Saturday night and the bar was bustling with early evening drinkers. I had a momentary panic that we'd be sat in this area but the waitress quickly whisked us into the conservatory before I had time to worry about Elsa getting under peoples feet...
The menu has a selection of everything from steak to burgers and BBQ ribs along with seafood and salads. As with The Loopy Shrew, the ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. We ordered steak and fries along with a burger and both were absolutely delicious - I particularly loved their homemade fries - YUM! For desert we 'shared' the cinnamon sugar doughnuts (although I polished most of these off myself!).
Porterhouse doesn't have a 'doggy menu' but we'd brought some food for Elsa and she had a few bites before settling down for a nap under the table. The conservatory is a lovely, spacious area and Elsa was very chilled while we enjoyed our meal. I fully expected her to start rolling around on the cowhide rugs when we arrived but she didn't seem bothered about them at all! (Another sigh of relief from me!)
Porterhouse certainly lived up to their slogan: 'American Flavours, British Behaviour'!
We were spoiled for choice when it came to the menu, the food was absolutely perfect and the service was friendly. Elsa was very well behaved so we could tell she was quite relaxed there. Another perfect dog friendly destination!
