Paws and Rewind – August 2017

Paws and Rewind is a look back at the places, products, activities and events that we have been enjoying with Elsa over the past month.

We packed a lot into the beginning of August so I've managed to (just about) keep up with everything this month!

Still in love with Shrewsbury...

We returned to Shrewsbury to celebrate our wedding anniversary, with Elsa of course! Since we loved Darwin's Townhouse so much the first time that we stayed there, we actually booked this second stay as we were checking out a few weeks earlier! We also found LOTS of dog friendly eateries in Shrewsbury, each offering their own unique experience; The Pour House with their killer-milkshakes, Porterhouse with their American and British fusion, The Armoury with their atmosphere and pub-grub, Chez Sophie with their amazing coffee and crêpes... we had every meal/ snack-time covered! When our bellies were full we enjoyed a relaxing river cruise aboard Sabrina with Elsa. She also made a new friend at the Dotty Dog Gallery... With each visit we find more and more reasons to return to this fabulous dog friendly town!

The Pet Show 2017 took place at the Staffordshire County Showground in the middle of August so we took Elsa to have a look around...

Sadly the rain put us off any of the outdoor activities but we still had fun inside... there were lots of lovely people to talk to including the team from Precious Pets Micro ID and Smokey Paws. We also stopped to say hello to our friends from Ginger&Browns and learn about their 'Tail Mail' subscription boxes. Elsa didn't leave the show empty-pawed either...we couldn't resist buying her a couple of things including a new ID tag from My Family and some For All Dogkind shampoo and spray. The highlight of the day was definitely meeting the other animals at the show - particularly the chickens!!

No bank holiday blues for us - fortunately we had some glorious sunshine!

We made the most of our long weekend with Elsa by having a day out in Cheshire, starting with a walk at Brereton Heath Nature Reserve. Next we headed to the dog friendly town of Wilmslow where we did some shopping in Barkers before stopping at Unico Lounge for brunch. On our way home we took a slight detour to explore Mow Cop Castle where Elsa had the time of her life running around in the beautiful heather. Luckily she did let me get some nice pictures of her too!

 The Pack - August 2017

Sadly, we said goodbye to our original Pack member Lyla. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family in the warm afternoon sunshine. Her owner Bethan wrote a very moving tribute to Lyla, click here to read the full post.

We were joined by two new pack members in August - Daisy and Scrumptious!

Paws across Europe - A few of our Pack members have also been on their holidays! Barnaby travelled to France via the Eurotunnel and his owner Julie shared their adventures with Paws across Britain, click here to read the full post. Kobee and his brother Yuki have been to Germany too! Instagram @kobee_yuki_shihtzu_adventures

Next month - In September Elsa's (human) grandparents are coming to stay with us! We will definitely have a few days out with them and Elsa.

Watch this space for our adventures in The Lake District!

Elsa's coat has grown back sufficiently enough for me to attempt a 'full groom' at home following the one day grooming course we did at Four Paws Groom School... fingers crossed! Updates will be posted soon.

Still reading (and LOVING) Bodie on the Road... I'm a very slow reader but it's such an easy, enjoyable book to read. I'll put together a 'book review' section to tell you all about it as soon as I'm done...

We have also started planning Elsa's birthday pawty! It's not until October, but it's set to be a doggy-doughnut extravaganza and we can't wait!!
