Paws and Rewind – October 2017

Paws and Rewind is a look back at the places, products, activities and events that we have been enjoying with Elsa over the past month.

If I had to pick one word to describe October, it would be 'FUN'!

At the beginning of the month we took Elsa to a lovely new dog shop called Gus & Bear in Marton, Cheshire, before heading for a walk around Alderley Edge and finally stopping at The Dog in Over Peover for dinner. It was a perfect afternoon and we'll definitely be returning to all three places again soon - more blog posts to follow!

October's main event was Elsa's 3rd Birthday!

We decided to celebrate with a huge party for her at Middleport Pottery and invited all of her favourite dogs, along with The Pack! There was a huge turnout with 18 dogs altogether...that might not sound like a lot of dogs, but when they are all together in one room; all shapes, colours and sizes bounding around - believe me it was quite an experience!

The party went very smoothly and all the dogs seemed to have fun. Thanks again to everyone who came and joined in our madness (apologies to those who were slightly outside of their comfort-zone when we started singing 'Happy Birthday')! We are so grateful to have such wonderful friends. The staff at Middleport were amazing too, so helpful and accommodating...this venue really is a hidden gem!

In mid-October we travelled to Wales with Elsa for a short break.

We stayed in a beautiful cottage near Caernarfon and it was the perfect base for our Welsh adventure!

Highlights of our trip include: shopping in Betws-y-Coed, driving around Anglesey, lunch in Caernarfon, a lovely afternoon walk on Dinas Dinlle beach and travelling to Beddgelert via the Welsh Highland Railway steam train.

Despite this being a particularly busy October, we still made time to celebrate Halloween!

We took Elsa pumpkin picking for the first time this year at Brookfields Farm Shop! (The adjacent field was full of cows and she was completely mesmerised by them, as you can see in the photograph above.) We also attended a special Harry Potter themed party at Hounds with friends including Piglet, Harry and Loki. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time for a new costume theme this year so we reused our outfits from the charity walk that we did for St Ann's Hospice in 2015. Halloween seemed to come and go so quickly this year. We do have an AMAZING idea for a family costume but you'll have to wait until next year to find out what it is...

The Pack - October 2017

This month we welcome two new pack members:

Rocky tells us about Saltburn Beach and Valley Gardens while Luna takes us on an adventure to the top of Mount Snowden!

We've also updated the Join the Pack page to make it even easier for you to share your favourite dog friendly places and have your dogs featured on Paws across Britain!

Next Month - Winter is fast approaching and the long nights are here to stay for the foreseeable, so we're going to be putting our feet up a bit more this month and hopefully catching up with a few blog posts and collaborations that have been in the pipeline for a while now...

There seem to be so many dog friendly venues opening up at the moment, so we're going to go and check out a few new eateries with Elsa.

The festive season is on the horizon and lots of shops are starting to launch their Christmas products so no doubt we'll do a bit of shopping this month... Hopefully we'll get the chance to visit a Christmas market too...
