For our first blog post we would like to share our experience of one of our favourite places in the UK – the The Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, County Durham.
This is a beautiful hotel set in equally gorgeous surroundings where we received a very warm welcome from all the staff. Several of the hotel rooms are dog friendly and dogs are also allowed inside on the ground floor, paved dining areas as well as the Crypt Bar.
The Hotel – Rooms
When staying at the hotel, four legged guests are provided with their own bed, towel and food/ water bowls. Two legged guests can enjoy many special touches; we had a sampling of delicious, melt-in-the-mouth fudge from the Toffee Shop in Penrith, room service including breakfast-in-bed and Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. There are plenty of areas around the grounds of the hotel that are easy to access for pups to relieve themselves.
Out and About
Rooms are kitted with a handy walking pack which we found to be very useful when we ventured out to enjoy the surroundings. Blanchland is a beautiful location, with many miles of countryside and woodland to explore.
Eating at The Lord Crewe Arms
The food was expertly prepared and we enjoyed several meals during our stay. Four legged guests don’t have a special menu but they are made welcome in the ground floor dining area as well as the bar indoors. There is also a beautiful area to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine or pint of one of the many local ales on offer.
Breakfast is served upstairs for two legged guests but we enjoyed having it brought to our room.
