We decided to make the most of the beautiful August bank holiday sunshine and drove to Snugburys Ice Cream farm near Nantwich in Cheshire with Elsa.
Every year they have a different hay sculpture in the field next to the farm. Drivers along the A51 have seen replicas of everything from a dinosaur to the Angel of the North, the Millennium Wheel, a windmill, Big Ben and even a Dalek!
This year, to celebrate 150 years since the birth of Beatrix Potter, the sculpture is a gigantic Peter Rabbit!
Elsa loved the walk up to see Peter, especially when she spotted a few other dogs checking out the sculpture too.
The notice board next to the entrance of the field had some interesting information about the sculpture which weighs 8 tonnes and stands 38 ft tall with a 10 ft carrot and 10 ft ears!
We were greeted by a rather handsome chap as we arrived back at the ice cream shop! Elsa took a real shine to him and they had fun playing while we got our ice cream.
The only problem was that Elsa didn’t want to leave!
Inside the shop you can order ice cream by the tub or cone and there are a huge range of flavours available… making it very difficult to choose!
Keeping with the Peter Rabbit theme, they have made a special carrot cake ice cream and are selling chocolate carrots in aid of The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust. Find out more here.
Snugburys is hard to miss if you’re travelling along the A51 and definitely worth a visit to see the hay sculpture and enjoy some delicious, award winning ice cream!
