Elsa’s Top 12 Moments of 2016

Elsa’s had a busy year: travelling to many different places and events, participating in dog shows, trying new foods, meeting people and making lots of new friends. To celebrate being a nominee in the UK Blog Awards 2017 we put together a shortlist of  Elsa’s top 12 moments of 2016!

At number 12 we have Geocaching! This is a great dog friendly activity which we enjoy with Elsa. In 2016 we released our very own Geocaching trackable called Pablo – click here to read more.

Number 11 on the countdown is Middleport Mutts! Hosted by Middleport Pottery in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, also where The Great Pottery Throw Down was filmed, this dog friendly historical site is a real hidden gem.

Number 10 – Elsa’s birthday! Instead of throwing Elsa a ‘pawty’ like we did last year, we decided to sponsor a Guide Dog puppy in her name. Of course she did get a few presents too…

At number 9 is Elsa’s visit to see the seals at Blakeney Point with Bean’s Boat Trips. These dog friendly boat trips are an amazing opportunity to see the wildlife around the Norfolk coast and this was the definitely the highlight of our holiday.

Number 8 – Paws across Stratford-upon-Avon – from a dog friendly river cruise to a relaxing drink in a lovely pub called Keys & Kitchen, Elsa really enjoyed this day out!

Number 7 is Whittington Castle near Oswestry in Shropshire. Dogs are welcome throughout the ruins and castle grounds all year round and Elsa had great fun exploring.

Number 6 is the Dogs Unite walk around Apedale Country Park organised by Hounds. Not only did we have a lovely day with Elsa and all the other dogs, this walk was also the inspiration for our ongoing fundraising for Guide Dogs UK.

Number 5 is Paws & Co Staffordshire Ltd. Not only does this salon offer a range of professional dog (and cat!) grooming services, they also host birthday parties and other special events throughout the year. These events are a great opportunity to let your dog have fun and socialise so that they associate the environment with something good. The girls also do a fantastic job of grooming Elsa! Paws & Co are actively involved in the local dog community supporting events like Newcastle-Under-Lyme BID’s Christmas Pet Parade!

At number 4 we have the North Norfolk coast! From Brancaster to Wells-next-the-Sea, Elsa had hours of fun on these doggie friendly beaches. Full blog post coming soon, but in the meantime check out the amazing cottage we used as our base to explore this lovely British coastline by clicking here.

Number 3 is Hounds in Newcastle-under-Lyme. When we heard that an independent, specialist dog shop was opening on our doorstep we were thrilled! Elsa was lucky enough to be their first customer too! In the months since Hounds opened they have really established themselves as an essential part of the community, hosting a range of events throughout the year including a Lily’s Kitchen tasting day, Pokémon Go dog walk and a fantastic Halloween party!

Number 2 is Dog Fest (North) which was held in the grounds of Arley Hall in Cheshire. We had an amazing day from start to finish and Elsa was on top form in the fun dog show where she won 1st place in the category for Best Turned Out Dog of the day!

Number 1 is Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire!

This is our favourite place to take Elsa because she absolutely loves exploring the gardens and walking around the lake. There are also dog friendly shops and cafés, including Doggie Fashions so it’s an ideal place to take your dog for a day out!
