Canine Capers 2017 | The Dorothy Clive Garden | Shropshire

Canine Capers is an annual event hosted by The Dorothy Clive Garden to raise funds and support the Pug Dog Welfare & Rescue Association. Dogs can enjoy a range of activities including a treasure hunt trail, fun dog show and an agility course. There were stalls selling all sorts of dog related goodies (including a pop-up shop from our favourite dog shop Hounds), a pet photographer, police dog demonstrations and a 'dog wedding' hosted in their beautiful outdoor venue, The Belvedere Pavillion

Toto's Treasure Trail

One of our favourite activities was this doggy treasure hunt with a 'Wizard of Oz' theme.

There were several markers that took you around the garden and each stop had a fun activity for your dog to try from sniffing out treats to jumping through hoops! There were even props where you could dress your dog up as a character from the movie. Very cute!

A nice day for a white wedding...

The highlight of the day was a 'dog wedding'! The happy couple were Maisie and Charlie, who also happen to be Lhasa Apsos (the same breed as Elsa!). Their owners entered a competition via The Dorothy Clive Garden's facebook page. Elsa was invited to be a bridesmaid and Piglet also took part in the wedding as a page boy! A little Jack Russell called Rosie joined us as a second bridesmaid for Maisie.

The venue was dressed beautifully thanks to Mason & Jenkinson, with flowers from the garden. There was also a dog wedding cake and favours which had been kindly donated by Pupcakes Dog Bakery! Professional photographs were taken by Julia Stanley and we can't wait to see how they turn out.

Everything ran smoothly as the as the dogs 'barked' their vows before the groom 'licked the bride', then there was cake and Pawsecco all round!

Fun Dog Show

The dog show had several different categories from 'Handsomest Dog' to 'Best Sausage Catcher'. It had a really good turnout with lots of gorgeous dogs competing. Elsa was more interested in exploring the gardens at this point so we decided to give this one a miss so that she could stretch her legs before we headed home.
