Paws and Rewind is a look back at the places, products, activities and events that we have been enjoying with Elsa over the past month.
February has been fabulously fun! We've been incredibly busy celebrating various events and taking part in a number of walks...
We started February with a group walk around Silverdale Country Park with Pack Members Freddie & Friends! The site used to be a colliery and is now owned by The Land Trust and managed by Groundwork West Midlands. We visit this country park quite frequently but this is the first time that we'd taken part in a group walk like this one and it was a completely different experience to what we're used to. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes and Elsa had the time of her life running around and playing as we took in the beautiful scenery. The only downside to this walk was that it was incredibly muddy...We had to hose Elsa down in the garden before we could even get her into the bath!! She had such a good time though, it was definitely worth it.
February 11th | Paws for Remembrance at The National Memorial Arboretum
It's great to see somewhere like The National Memorial Arboretum setting such a good example when it comes to recognising that people want to visit their venue with their dogs! We certainly couldn't miss this opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the arboretum with Elsa.
We celebrated this very special event with a trip to Chester to watch a live lion dance with Elsa...
...of course it was also a great excuse for another photoshoot!
22nd February | Dogs Unite Walking the Dog Day in suppawt of Guide Dogs!
The main event in February was our Dogs Unite walk! Altogether, Elsa and I raised a total of £247.50 for Guide Dogs and I'm absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude to everyone that sponsored us! We are passionate about helping this charity; your kindness and generosity will help to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired by giving them back their confidence and independence, with a Guide Dog by their side. Thank you so much!!
Queen of the Castle
After a few busy weekends we decided to end February with a relaxing day out and took Elsa to one of her favourite types of places - a castle! Beeston Castle is an amazing place to visit with your dog, there are so many areas to explore from fields to woodlands and the ruins of the castle itself. A guaranteed great day out!
We stopped at Snugbury's on our way home to visit Peter Rabbit again...the current hay sculpture was recently rebuilt because the original one was shockingly burned down by vandals! Of course we couldn't resist trying one of the winter specials while we were there: an ice cream cookie sandwich with a toasted marshmallow on top - mmm!
Although we didn't get the opportunity to physically visit our much loved town of Shrewsbury this month, Elsa was still there in spirit (and full colour print) because she appeared in the Jan/Feb 2018 issue of My Shrewsbury magazine! The issue features articles about the dog friendly venues around town as well as details of The Darwin Town Trail to coincide with the Darwin Festival that takes place every February.
Special Feature | Picture Perfect Paws with Staffordshire Phodography - our first full-length and exclusive interview
I'm so pleased to have published our interview with Will from Staffordshire Phodography this month!
Will is an amazingly talented and award-winning dog photographer and he kindly took the time to tell us more about himself, his dogs and his love for photography - including a few tips for getting the best out of your own photographs!
Favourite Product | Equafleece
Just when we thought Spring was on it's way, Britain once again came to a standstill as we were battered by both wind and snow! Elsa has practically been living in her Equafleece for the past week... I honestly don't know how we coped before we bought this revolutionary, waterproof dog suit! Read our full review by clicking here.
The Pack - February 2018
Welcome to The Pack George and Dobby! You can view their full profiles and read about their favourite places in Britain by clicking on their pictures. Click here if your dog would like to Join the Pack too!
Next Month - Shopping at Crufts and sightseeing in Cornwall!
We had such an amazing time at Crufts with Elsa last year so it will be hard to top that, but we plan on buying LOTS of goodies for her including a much needed spare Equafleece! I can't wait to see all the different colours in real life, fingers crossed that they still have stock in her size by the time we get there!
Hopefully the weather will start to improve as we head into March because we are planning our first ever trip to Cornwall! If anyone knows of any particularly interesting dog friendly attractions, pubs, shops etc, we would love to hear your recommendations in the comments below.
