Paws and Rewind is a look back at the places, products, activities and events that we have been enjoying with Elsa over the past month.
This month has been absolutely a-May-zing!
5k Hooray! Paws across Britain finally hit the 5k milestone on Instagram - thank you so much to all of our followers, your continued support really means a lot! And thanks to Madebymelittleg for the amazing rosette badge!
May the Fourth be with you! We've had lots of good, old-fashioned fun with Elsa this month, starting with a photo shoot for Star Wars Day on May the 4th...
Party like a Pooch! Elsa was invited to Piglet the Frenchie's 2nd birthday 'paw-ty' at Hounds where she enjoyed some special doggy birthday cake with Piglet, Harry and the Hounds sausage dogs. The human cake was pretty good too!
Blooming marvellous...The weather has been beautiful this month, albeit a bit too hot for little paws at times, so we've been waiting until later in the evenings to walk Elsa and seeking out shadier walks. The pictures below were taken on an evening walk at Redesmere lake in Cheshire; the bluebells were so pretty, we couldn't resist an impromptu photo-shoot!
Bonus: Bank Holidays!
We spent the first long weekend in the North East of England, mainly visiting family including Chihuahuas Spike and Millie (Elsa's auntie and uncle - well, sort of!) Elsa took some of her ORIJEN Freeze-Dried Treats to share with them and we had a lovely walk around Herrington Country Park together.
The second bank holiday weekend was spent doing various things including:
Pottering around the dog-friendly town of Leek in Staffordshire with Piglet. He and Elsa particularly loved running around the park together!
Piglet's Mum and I also treated ourselves to some Cath Kidston accessories from Bibelot (another lovely dog friendly shop) before discovering that dogs were also allowed inside Kenral Ltd (they sell all sorts of things including bags, purses, makeup, perfume and accessories). Leek is definitely one of our favourite towns to visit because it's not just 'dog friendly', dogs are welcomed with open arms and there are always a treats to be had!
A sunny bank holiday would not be complete without a trip to the beach, so we set off early to scope out somewhere that we hadn't been before: Talacre on the coast of North Wales. As much as we love Formby, I think that Talacre might be our new favourite local beach! It took us about 90 minutes to get there but it was a very pleasant journey and even though it was high tide, there was still a very generous stretch of sandy beach which Elsa thoroughly enjoyed running along and rolling around on! I have a feeling that we'll be going back again soon... watch this space for a full blog post!
Elsa's Makeover with the help of Lisa Hart Grooming
After allowing Elsa's coat to grow out over the past few months I decided that it was time to get her fur back into shape, but didn't quite know where to start, so I enlisted the help of Lisa Hart, an extremely talented professional groomer. Lisa has over 14 years of experience and has won several grooming awards; she is particularly gifted when it comes to 'Asian Fusion' style grooming which she regularly practices on her adorable Miniature Schnauzer, Esme. I'm not brave enough to try this sort of style on Elsa so we went for a more traditional, but practical cut to suit her features. It was great to work on Elsa alongside Lisa, she was so helpful and really gave me the courage that I needed to develop my own grooming techniques a little bit more. Elsa looked absolutely amazing at the end of the session, we took a lot of bulk out but kept her coat relatively long - I couldn't have been happier! Thanks again to Lisa for all of your help and advice!
