Britain is renowned for its 'pub culture'; people enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of pubs, along with good food and drink.
In recent years, there has been a shift towards supporting local, independent businesses and the majority of pubs have embraced this trend by offering more regional produce including ales, craft beers and artisan gins. Many have also undergone refurbishments to extend their restaurant sections and offer comfortable, stylish accommodation, making pubs an attractive and affordable place to stay.
Dogs & Pubs
In Britain, we are fortunate to have hundreds of pubs that welcome dogs with open arms and, although visiting the pub with a dog is not a new concept, lots of establishments have started to offer more options to dogs and their owners, including things like meals for dogs and dog-friendly accommodation.
So, whether you are looking for somewhere to go for a drink, a good meal, or if you need somewhere to rest overnight with your four-legged friend, pubs offer the ideal solution to satisfy all of these needs!
Take your Paws across Britain & Stay in a Pub!
We love to visit and stay in pubs with Elsa... In fact, the very first place that we ever took her to stay overnight was The Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland. We had such a wonderful, relaxing time there: enjoying the serenity of the location, the amazing food and we also loved the thoughtful extras including the dog bed and bowls in the room for Elsa. Although we didn't know it at the time, this pub was to become the initial source of inspiration for Paws across Britain, and the focus of the first ever blog post that we published! Since then we have visited and stayed at several other dog friendly pubs that are listed on the Stay in a Pub site, all of which can be found pinned on the Paws across Britain map with a special Stay in the Pub marker.
We are absolutely delighted to be officially collaborating with 'Stay in a Pub' to showcase more of their lovely dog friendly listings - watch this space!
Stay In A Pub is the UK’s leading pub accommodation website. Launched in 2013, it allows pubs to promote their rooms to a nationwide audience and is a one-stop booking platform for customers wanting to experience the good food, real ale, fine wines and hospitality that the Great British pub has to offer. Unlike other travel websites that take a commission on your booking, Stay in a Pub acts more like a directory, and the bookings are made directly with the pubs.
They have more than 1700 listings on their site, and searches can be filtered to focus specifically on pubs that welcome 'Four Legged Friends', making it very easy to find suitable accommodation anywhere in Britain. Approximately 1 in 3 of the pubs listed are also dog friendly (although some only allow dogs in the pub and not the bedrooms).
