We are always on the lookout for new and exciting things to do with Elsa and when we heard about Woodside Drive In (from Paws across Britain Pack member Scrumptious) we couldn't wait to take her to watch her first movie on the big screen!
I have to confess, going to the cinema has taken a bit of a backseat since Elsa came into our lives. As far as movies are concerned, we'd generally prefer to snuggle up on the couch with Elsa at home than leave her alone to go to the cinema. But now we can have the best of both worlds...
Woodside Drive In Cinema offers a unique American-style outdoor cinema experience. You can enjoy big screen blockbusters from the comfort of your own car, or if you'd like a front-row seat then you can pull up a deckchair or beanbag and enjoy the movie alfresco.
We were so impressed with everything from the roller skating waitresses, who will deliver cinema-style snacks and food orders directly to your car, to the sound and screen quality! The whole experience is so enjoyable, I actually prefer going to Woodside Drive In more than a regular cinema!
Well-behaved dogs are always welcome and, to celebrate the cinema's growing furry fan-base, Woodside Drive In also hosted a very special screening of the 1955 Disney classic, Lady and the Tramp on Sat, 7th September.
We were so pleased to see that the event had a good turnout, with lots of people bringing their pooches to the drive in to enjoy the movie. One family even brought a whole pack in their van!
Prior to the event we also hosted a competition on Facebook to give followers the chance to win tickets to this special screening, and I managed to spot one of the winners at the cinema! How gorgeous is she? This lucky little lady had the entire back-seat all to herself and looked very cosy indeed.
Elsa snuggled on my lap for a little while before curling up on the back seat of the car for the rest of the movie. It's been a while since I've watched Lady and the Tramp but it is definitely one of my favourites and it was great to see the movie in its full glory on the big screen. I really love how the illustrators managed to capture the characteristics and quirks of the dogs that are portrayed in the film. We had similar experiences to 'Jim Dear' and 'Darling' when we brought Elsa home as a puppy, even down to her ending up sleeping on our bed! Elsa's not quite a lady though...she's a combination of Lady and the Tramp - adventurous, a bit of a rascal, but also a little bit of a snob at the same time!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Woodside Drive In for hosting this special event, it was a "bella notte" and we look forward to visiting you again soon!
