Elsa and Buffy were invited to be part of the National Pet Show 2019 so we headed to the NEC in Birmingham to paws at the Hound Hangout!
This was Elsa's second year at the show and Buffy's first big event! We had planned to be there on the Saturday but unfortunately I wasn't very well. Luckily we were still able to attend the event on Sunday and as chance would have it, this also gave us the opportunity to catch up with some familiar paws including @harleybear.29 who we met at the show last year, as well as @honeyb_doodle and @jacksonjunior.pug who we met at DogFest back in June.
We had a few bags of yummy ORIJEN treats to share with the other dogs and they seemed to go down very well, although Buffy still tried to sneak in and pinch them back!
The Hound Hangout is very popular with visitors, particularly children, as it gives them the opportunity to meet and spend time with all sorts of different dogs 'in the fur'. Located close to the centre of the hall, it's a vortex of paws, wagging tails, twitching noses and little tongues that are eager to bestow slobbery kisses!
We always love meeting our social media followers, but have to give a special mention to one in particular who actually took the time to make Elsa and Buffy gifts - such a kind and unexpected gesture, thank you so much @by.buddy for the beautiful bows!
After our slot at the Hound Hangout we explored the rest of the dog village, stopping to say hi to some old friends including Doug the Pug Therapy Dog at the Pets as Therapy stand, and Sam the Schnauzer Assistance Dog. Both of these pups work so hard, they are a constant source of inspiration, plus they are absolutely gorgeous so it's always lovely to give them a little fuss!
There is so much to see and do at the National Pet Show, but we were also very conscious that it might be a bit overwhelming for Buffy so we found a quiet corner where she could rest for a while and have some lunch. Despite the crowds and bright lights, she was quite calm and eager to explore so we managed to do a bit of shopping before heading home...
Buffy loved sniffing around the shops and was quite interested in a food dispensing toy at the Orvis stand so we decided to treat her to one, along with a new antler chew (she absolutely LOVES these). I'm a huge fan of aromatherapy and a sucker for new grooming products so I couldn't resist buying this new set from Pet Remedy.
We would also like to thank Orvis for giving us these adorable personalised pillows!
The bone shape makes them perfect for snoozing on. (As you can see, Buffy has already tested hers out and got it all wet from her beard!) They are extremely well made with very high quality MicroSuede fabric and have a hidden zipper at the back so that you can remove the cover and wash the pillowcase. They come in four different colours including the khaki and gunmetal shades below. Get yours here!
One final thanks to the team at the National Pet Show, we had a wonderful time and we're so grateful to have been invited to be part of this event!
If you missed it then make sure to keep an eye on their website for future show dates:
