The world has changed so quickly in such a short space of time and sadly, it’s time to hit the pause button on Paws across Britain. Our focus is sharing and promoting all the wonderful dog friendly destinations and businesses in the UK, but it goes without saying that we do not encourage anyone to visit these places while there are restrictions in place due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). It’s been heartbreaking to see so many of our friends in the hospitality and retail sectors having to close their doors, albeit temporarily.
The only places our paws will be going for the foreseeable are around our home, garden and on short, local walks.
We are following the government guidelines very closely, using our daily exercise allowance and taking turns going out, once each per day, to ensure that Elsa and Buffy’s routine stays as normal as possible. The prospect of a strickter lockdown does worry me. Even as I write this I can still see people outside who are clearly not adhering to social distancing guidelines. We are only at the start of a very long tunnel but we ALL need to work together to get this right.
I'm so relieved that there is NO evidence that COVID-19 affects dogs, or can be transmitted between dogs and humans. Click here for the latest information and guidance from The Kennel Club.
No doubt we’ll see lots of changes in the coming days and weeks and eventually we’ll all have to adapt to a new version of ‘normal’ because sadly, things will never be the same as they were before this awful pandemic. In the meantime we will be treasuring every moment of the extra time that we have at home with Elsa and Buffy. Dogs teach you to ‘live in the moment’, appreciate what you have right now and enjoy the simple things in life so we’ll be doing just that, looking forward to the day when we can once again take our ‘Paws across Britain’ and share our adventures!
Keep those paws at home, stay safe and well.
With love and best wishes to all of our readers,
Kelly, Elsa & Buffy
